Records, the longest of any White Stripes album.

Additionally, the album introduces Scottish folk music, avant-garde, trumpet, and bagpipes into the formula. The title is derived from "ecky thump", a Lancashire colloquial response of surprise, popularized by an episode of the 1970s UK comedy series The Goodies.

Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. In 2015, Rolling Stone named them the sixth greatest duo of all time.
